sbq ~ most challenging project

Filed Under (SBQ) by Loretta on 06-06-2007

  • What has been your most challenging project and why?

My most challenging project is one that is not yet finished. Actually it has probably less than 20 stitches in it. Guardian by Teresa Wentzler. I really want to accomplish this piece, and I love the design! I don’t know why I can’t get into it. I’ve had it for probably four or five years now and barely touched it. I had the fabric gridded hoping that would help me along. I did some stitching on it and then away it went into the to stitch someday pile. I’ll stitch it someday I hope. Although as of recently I haven’t done much stitching of anything at all. I’m a slacker.

sbqAre you on â??The Wagon?â?ť If so, how long have you been on and how â??seriousâ?ť are you about it? If not, have you considered it?

Well, I hadn’t really thought about it much, but I guess I am on the wagon.  I have been in such a stitching slump lately that I didn’t even have my annual spending spree when I received my income tax refund.  I still have the stuff I bought last year to finish!  Eeek, I need to stitch! I think the only things I’ve picked up at all this year are a few $1 charts from SanMan and some floss that I was missing for a project, and that was ages ago. Wow, I am firmly on the wagon LOL

sbq ~ stitching blogs

Filed Under (SBQ) by Loretta on 11-04-2007

How do you decide which stitching blogs are worth repeat and/or regular viewings? Are there certain things you look for in particular? Are there things you wish there were more of? Less of? Is your blog a good example of what you like to read?

This SBQ is a tough one, even though it should be really easy. I read a lot of stitching and craft related blogs. Anyhow, I like a variety of stitching blogs, and they don’t have to be just about stitching. Stitchers are people too, you know! We have lives that are completely unrelated to stitching too! Who would have guessed? I love to see bits of life fall between the stitches.

This SBQ is a tough one, even though it should be really easy. I read a lot of stitching blogs, and when you arrive here today you may actually wonder “is this a stitcher’s blog? did I click the right link?” Well, yes you did, and I am a stitcher, I just have been in a bit of slump lately, and when I do stitch I am stitching models and I always hesitate to share those, unless I have permission to do so. Anyhow, I like a variety of stitching blogs, and they don’t have to be just about stitching. Stitchers are people too, you know! We have lives that are completely unrelated to stitching too! sbq ~ freebies

Filed Under (SBQ) by Loretta on 04-04-2007

Do you have a system for organizing freebie charts in your stash? If so, what is it? Do you print out copies of all of the freebies that you find on the web (that you think you might actually stitch) or do you maintain electronic copies of them until you are ready to stitch them?

I’m running a little late with my SBQ this week, and I missed Manic Monday and Ten on Tuesday!!! I need to set a reminder on the computer for these things!

I used to have a whole filing system for my freebies. I had a whole filing full of folders for them and was divided by style, designer, and looked nice and neat. I’m not sure at what point I stopped doing that. I love my freebies, but I know I’m not going to stitch them all so lately they just seem to get saved on the computer when I come across them and I print them on occasion or if I want to stitch it soon I might print it and stick it in my tote bag or something. It seems I’m not a very good stitcher these days, but believe it or not stitching does still happen around here! I’ll have to post some recent pictures.

sbq ~ $500

Filed Under (SBQ) by Loretta on 18-03-2007

~ If you had $500 to spend on stitching-related items, what would you buy?

Well the most I’ve ever given myself to spend on stitching supplies was $300. I kitted up 3 big projects that I was really wanting, bought some extra fabric and beads and stuff like that. If I had $500 today and had to spend it on stitching related stuff, I think I would first frame Ouroborus and a few other smaller finished pieces. If I still had money left after that I think I’d probably get a floor stand, one that will hold my q-snaps.

Visit this week’s SBQ and get in on the stitchy fun ;)

sbq ~ frogging along

&nbsp Visit this week’s SBQ

  • Do you use your needle, a seam ripper, or something else when you have to frog stitches? Why do you use the method that you do?

I do both, it depends on how many stitches I’ve got to frog out of the piece. If it’s just a quick few stitches then I’ll just use my needle. If I was a doofus and messed a whole section I’ll grab the seam ripper because it’s easier to hold onto!

sbq ~ stitching fast

Filed Under (SBQ) by Loretta on 02-03-2007

This week’s SQB is an interesting question. I know from message board and stitch group experience that I’ll enjoy reading some of these answers!

  • Do you find yourself stitching faster when you are getting to the end
    of a design?

Absolutely! You know you’re almost done and the happy dance is finally near. Especially if its a large project that you’ve been working on for a long time. I know in particular with Ouroborus I was a stitching fool the last day or so because I really just wanted my pretty purple dragon to be finished so I could post a picture a picture and say WOOHOO! The only thing better than finishing a stitch, is starting a new one!

sbq ~ fabric counts

Filed Under (SBQ) by Loretta on 25-02-2007

What is the smallest count fabric you have ever used? Did you stitch over one? Conversely, what is the largest count fabric you have ever used?

I’ve stitched on 36 count fabric both over two and over one. Over one on 36 count fabric is notttttt fun at all.

The largest is 11 count aida that I did one of those BIG stitch projects on. LOL it was kind of weird to stitch on something so big.
