This guide will tell you everything you need to know about working with leather including how to profit from your leather products while having fun.
Reader submitted review:
Do I work with leather? Not really but I know someone who does. He loves to make all sorts of things out of leather. In fact he spends most of his free time in his garage working away on these little projects. I notice though that most of his projects were just left hanging in the garage. I decided he needed a little push to do something with all this so I got him this book.
After spending about an hour looking and reading he got the idea he could sell his products for a little money. Just exactly what I wanted him to figure out.
As he read more and more he began to talk about how doing this could be easier or doing that might make a difference in the finished product. He just went on and on about all the neat things he was learning. That’s when I knew I had made a good investment.
Next thing I knew he was talking to people about his new business venture and how he could have fun while making money. He showed me some of the things he had made using some of the ideas in this guide and they were pretty good. He complimented the author on how he made it seem so simple and easy to do. He even said that hopefully someday he could be that good.
I decided to take a look and see for myself why this book was so special to him. He was right. By answering questions from everyday people like you and I about working with leather the author had found a way to make this interesting and fun. He made sense with his answers and they were so easy to follow.
Before long I wanted to help with the leather craft and business. Of course I wasn’t a welcome part of the garage but hey that’s ok. He’s making some extra money, having fun and has a new enjoyment on an old hobby. That’s enough for me and we’re both happy that I found this ebook.

Okay, so this isn’t exactly a “craft product.” This is the first book in the Needlework Mystery series by Monica Ferris. I had been hearing about these books for quite some time on message boards and crafty discussion groups. A few months ago I won a $50 Amazon gift certificate and I took the plunge and ordered a few!
I just finished this installment recently and I was really happy with it. I admit the past few years I’ve been caught up in the world of Harry Potter and had a hard time reading anything else. I’m finally getting back into reading again and this was a great place to find my love of reading again.
We first meet Margot, the owner of Crewel World which is the one and only needlework shop in a small town near Minnesota. The kind of small town where everyone knows everyone else and secrets are few and far between and gossip travels faster than rain. I used to live in a small town like that, so it was easy enough to visualize the little shops along the main streets with apartments above them. Sadly we find out that Margot’s beloved husband has passed on and she lives all alone with her fluffy white cat, Sophie. Until her sister Betsy comes to stay with her for awhile.
Things take a turn for the interesting after Betsy arrives. Murder can happen even in a small town, and even in a quiet little needlework shop where people gather to chat and work on their latest projects. Be careful who you trust your life with in this small little town.

I’m not sure what I expected when I got this book. I might have expected some in depth diy projects, and there are some great diy ideas in here! I was left slightly unimpressed by the book as a whole, and I’m really not sure why. You know, it’s just kind of there, no wow factor in it for me. I was however impressed that cross stitch came first in the book and the very first project you read is called “Dirty Pillow: Cherry Pie”, a very cute pattern with full instructions for cross stitching and finishing off the pillow into a completed masterpiece. There’s also some other fun projects including a tote bag, soap, and a knitted cap. I would have liked the cross stitching section better if the designs shown on the cover of the book were included! The whole front cover shows a cross stitched border and scull with scissors motif, I absolutely love it and would love to see that pattern included or sold separately, or maybe in a future edition of Bazaar Bizarre. I also loved that they say “not your granny’s crafts” ~ because I always say, “this is not your grandmother’s hobby anymore,” just because we are being creative doesn’t mean we’re a bunch of little old ladies sitting around talking about dirty old men! LOL So, enjoy the book, and let me know which project is your favorite.

These special edition Gingher scissors are just in time for Mother’s Day and Independence Day. They are limited in quantity so I’ve been looking to see who has them, and I must say they are not that easy to find. I thought I’d be sneaky and order them with some stuff from amazon that Brian was getting, but no such luck! They aren’t listed there. I am not sure but I think shops had to request them from Gingher since they are limited quantity.
Of course since they are Gingher they are going to be a great, quality scissor. If you know a scissor collector these limited editions would be a great gift. So far here are the shops online that I’ve come across that have these lovely little things for ordering.
Down Sunshine Lane
Paw Prints Cross Stitch (had them listed, but I’m not seeing them now, so they may have run out)
Mary Janes Cross N Stitch
Colonial Crafts
Needlecraft Corner
Stitches N Things
There’s also Gingher Glory Shears available, I wasn’t really looking for these, so I”m not sure if the shops I listed have both the embroidery scissor and the shear or not. If you’re looking for both you might want to ask around.

Who wants a boring sewing kit in their purse? You know the one I’m talking about, with the clear plastic case and the little bits of thread and some needles, costs a few bucks at every grocery store and gas station. It’s functional, but it’s definitely not fun. Here’s a totally fun solution to that boring old sewing kit! This flip flop sewing kit is the perfect fun accessory for purse, office desk drawer or travel. Three-zippered compartment holds scissors, thread, needles and pins, everything a plain old boring sewing kit would hold but with a funky display of color. Brings a little personality to the functional and very handy sewing kit! I love seeing old things made new, and this is a great example of that. Next time you need to fix a button or a hem and you whip this out of your bag, people are sure to be interested.

I was pleasantly surprised when I received this book. For $10 I was expecting a flimsy chartlet with some black and white photocopy type pages inside. Not so. This is a nicely bound, hard cover book with quality print pages, color examples and clear directions for any level cross stitcher. Great for a beginner because the projects don’t require any specialty stitches and can easily be stitched on aida fabric. I am loving this little book right now, and it’s proudly sitting on my coffee table for everyone to see instead of hidden away in the filing bin with all my other cross stitch charts.

Mighty Bright Clip on Light ~ Loretta Oliver’s Review
I recently purchased myself a Mighty Bright Clip on Light. You’ve probably seen them at your local craft store or heard about them on craft groups before. Lighting always seems to be an issue for me so I thought I’d grab one, little extra light couldn’t hurt anything!
~ PROS
-folds up for portability
-batteries or ac adapter
-it really is bright!
~ CONS
-heavy!!!
Picture shows mighty bright clamped onto a regular embroidery hoop, roughly an 8 or 10 inch one …. tried it and that is so not happening for real! I managed to squeeze it onto my q-snap, but it didn’t fit right on there either. I can clamp it on the side of my cross stitch lap stand (sit n stitch) and it hold on there kind of okay….not real great. It does clamp nicely to the side of the desk or table though. It is a nice light for the price, and its indeed bright. I didn’t invest in the AC adapter or any other extras that go with it, just the light itself (I got mine in sour apple green -lol-) For travel purposes, which I mostly wanted it for, it’s perfect! And I do use it when I’m at my desk or when I’m sitting in bed to read or stitch.

I’m currently running the free trial of Scrap Book Max and we’ll have a full review for you soon. Thus far, everything’s okay. Download and install were no problems, launched after setup and created a page layout in less than 10 minutes. Need to play around a little more and see what all I can get this thing to do. It’s pretty cool for people like me that just can’t seem to get into the reality kind of scrapbooking. My pictures tend to end up on SanDisk or real ones end up in a photo box on the shelf. I’m just so bad at the whole photo record thing.
Anyhow, figured I’d mention it. If anyone wants to review it with me that would be awesome!
