It’s been awhile since I played along with the Online Craft Club. Since I pulled out those mini UFO’s yesterday to work on I figured today would be a good day to show off my progress. Yes, I after progress after one day - woohoo! Here’s where I’m at this morning after stitching for awhile last night.
Mine Little Treasures Design CO

And here’s where it was before I started.
Mine! Little Treasures Design Co.

I think I’m doing okay so far. I might even have a happy dance to share by next week! Double Woohoo!! Basically, I think I’m going to pack up all the big projects. Figures after almost a year I finally found a place to put them, and it’s time to pack them and move house again. *sigh* I solemnly swear that my stitching will not be so neglected in the new home. Please hold me to that ;)

The great thing about Online Craft Club is that when Friday rolls around and I haven’t crafted anything I remember that I need to stop and take some time for myself and be creative. Well, I did get the sewing box out this weekend, but there was no actual sewing done. There was however some repairing. Ethan’s jacket had a hefty sized hole in the arm that needed mended.

Picture 022

Picture 023Ethan likes to climb trees and fences and anything else he can find to climb when he’s outside. And his sleeve got caught and snagged and well, then there was a hole. I had some Disney iron-on patch that was the right colors to match his jacket and since I bought these big ole’ iron on patches with Ethan in mind it’s only fair that I use them to mend his jacket. I cut out a Mickey square and rounded three of the corners off. The hole in the sleeve goes the whole way through the jacket so I stuck a piece of thick cardboard in the sleeve so that I wouldn’t glue the sleeve to itself!

Picture 024Then I took the cardboard out and turned the sleeve inside out. And I got out some plain iron patches. The kind you can find in the grocery store notions section for every day patching. I cut one in half, I guess it’s about 2.5 inches big or so. Significantly bigger than the patch on the outside. But I figured better safe than sorry since I know how rough he is on his jacket and how many bazillion times it’s going to get washed.

And there you have it, Ethan’s mended jacket sleeve. Not exactly the prettiest or the most crafty thing ever, but it’s what I managed to do this week! I had some gray embroidery thread ready and was going to hand stitch around the edges like an appliqué, but I ended up just leaving it raw edged. And now that I took care of that so he’ll have it for tomorrow I’m going to go take some Nyquil and fall onto my pillow.

Well, I did it. I found the power cord! It must have gotten mixed up in the move and was located in a bow of random plugs, cords, and extra usb wires. So I plugged in and decided it was time to get back into making quilt blocks. I figured since it’s been so long since I’ve done any sewing at all I should probably do some practice pieces before I get too serious again. So I got out some old fabric and started cutting.

three poorly pieced fall quilt blocks

The result of my efforts for the day were three very crooked and poorly pieced quilt blocks in pretty fall colors mixed with leftover denim. They’re nothing to write home about, and certainly not worthy of entering a Branson Missouri craft fair, but it’s a start. I think I have enough of these fabrics to make a small quilt, but I haven’t actually measured yet so I’m not sure. We’ll just keep sewing and see what we get.

That’s it for now. What did you craft on this week? Join us in the Online Craft Club.

On top of my being a day late, it looks like I’m without a picture to show you this week again! But, not because I haven’t been doing anything. I’ve actually done quite a bit of stitching, I just couldn’t get a good photograph of it and the scanner - ugh - well that’s all I have to say about the scanner right now. Maybe I’ll try again later this week when I’m not so frustrated. But, don’t let my lack of photograph discourage you from participating this week. Craft on people, craft on.

My camera is on the charger right now so no piccies for you today. My skirt is still not finished, I’m not even sure it will fit me when it is, I need to lose like 60 pounds before anything ever fits me again, I swear.

Despite being sick all week it was actually somewhat productive in the crafty department. I found my fabric!!! Woohoo! And my needles are moving again. I’m a stitcher once more. And I’m very happy about it.

So, I did what any good stitcher would do on payday. I bought some stash to reward myself -lol- HAED was having a sale so I picked up two of the Storykeep charts (those are bookmarks btw) ~ I went there just looking and with no intention of buying anything at all, but it turns out that Mask of Autumn by Jessica Galbreth has been converted into a Storykeep, and it’s one of my favorite of Jessica’s paintings and it’s currently my desktop theme on the computer too, so I had to have it. Now, getting it stitched is an entirely different thing. I have a few other things in the to-do list first before I even consider starting it.

What’s that? The second chart I bought. Well, I can’t tell you. It’s top secret.

I’m a day late, but I blame my bronchitis for that. This week our creative endeavors included Perler Beads. I know you might think of them as a kid’s craft item, but darnit I think they’re fun and I had a good time making my little design. And I got the kids involved too. I had some beads left from before, but I needed more so I grabbed a bucket full when I stopped at Michael’s Crafts to get some cake decorating items for Noah’s birthday cake last weekend.

DVC00135This is my little creation of Perler beads, pixel art at it’s best. Anybody recognize it? It’s a classic Nintendo red and white mushroom! -lol- I’m such a dork. Next time we get out the Perler beads I want to make Pacman and the Ghosts! I need to get some magnets so that I can stick them on the fridge. I am thinking about making some classic NES characters too and just smother my fridge in total geekery. It seemed like a good idea when I thought of it, but now that I’ve written it down for everyone to read I’m maybe not so sure.

DVC00136My children were much less dorky than me. Noah made the heart, which he said is for his girlfriend on Valentine’s day… um, but first he said he has to find a girlfriend before that. LOL Little boys are so darn cute sometimes. Dylan made the flower in the middle and said it was for ME and NOT his girlfriend. He stressed this. Lucas made the orange car, like you couldn’t have guessed that Mr.ILoveOrange made the orange car. He did it all by himself with no pattern or anything. Such a creative little mind he has there. It even has a red tail light. Ethan made a star, but it’s not in the picture because he took it to school and stuck it on his desk or something already.

What’s great about Perler bead pixel art is that you don’t need to set up old folding conference tables just to have enough space to craft! Just a handful of beads, a little pegboard, and an iron. You can sit at your desk, at the coffee table, pretty much anywhere and put these little creations together. Unless you’re fuse beading hard core and you get 100 snap together tiles, then you might need a little more space!

The new york flights are often hard to find, specially on the domestic flights in the holiday season. Therefore when you are planning your cruise or your stay at any hotel, make sure that you book your flights well before hand or else you will have to travel by train and eventually stay at a travel lodge.

front of skirtTechnically this is the second craft club week but I didn’t have anything to post last week. This week I present to you my almost finished skirt made from a recycled pair of my favorite jeans t~ they suffered an unfortunate accident at the hands of a teething puppy, so they were cut up and re-purposed and almost finished …. This is the front of the skirt. Ignore the rumples, I just pulled it out tonight. I haven’t found my fabric yet, but I did find this! And the rest of the fabric to finish it was folded up with it, and I’ve got a spool of thread so I’m all set. Maybe next week I’ll get to post a picture of my wearing it. It may look done in this picture, but there is no behind in it right now so it’s not exactly safe to wear out at the moment. LOL And you can’t see it in the picture but the blue fabric that is used in addition to the denim has a light dandelion print with some glitter to it.

Click the banner above or head over to Cass Knits to see who else has shared a project this week, share one yourself, or to find some need inspiration to start one off!
