Craft Blog was nominated for best hobby blog in the Blogger’s Choice Awards. Votes are always appreciated. There is a lot of tough competition in the hobby category! There are some gorgeous knitting and photography blogs. I’ll warn you now …. browsing this category on the BCA site is dangerous. You could get lost for hours.

I hope that our readers in the U.S. had a great Thanksgiving weekend. I can’t believe it’s Saturday already. So much stuff to catch up on. As soon as I’ve got the camera charged I’ll be posting my Online Craft Club post for the week. After that I think I’m going to throw some laundry in the washer and get out the sewing machine and work on that quilt I started. It’s been nice to just stay at home for the weekend and not have to do anything or be anywhere. It’s the first time in a long time it’s been that way in our house.

I undecided about this antiquing question. Is it a craft? It’s more like shopping, you know? Is shopping a craft? Even if you’re finding antique furniture at yard sales, hidden treasures tucked away inside old luggage sets at estate auctions, or surfing ebay to find just the right matching statuette to fit into a set, it’s more of a skill, or hobby, than an actual craft. Hobby, yes it definitely falls under hobby. That’s my final answer … I think.
Now if you taking something new and antiquing that item
, then that is a craft. Because you are creating it, and making it look old, it’s not actually old. Did that make sense?

We like to shop and we like to ogle over our stash. When we go shopping for anything we always see something on the shelf that could be turned into something else. We could be shopping for nuts and bolts
, platform shoes, or groceries
we’ll still end up buying something that we probably didn’t need and we intend to turn into something else.

I have craftiness on the brain. I heard the words fiber cable and thought immediately of Kreinik cables and braiding tools and all the things you can do with shiny sparkly Kreiniks, and making cable cords to decorate newly made Christmas ornaments. Yeah, that so wasn’t what they were talking about -lol- I think that means it’s time for me to get off the computer and go make something!

Want to go out on a stash buying spree but don’t want to spend a small fortune on pretty fabrics and hand dyed threads? Well, don’t panic and please don’t go out and get one of those cash advance just to buy some stash! Stop by the message board and post for a stash exchange, or maybe catch someone that is cleaning out their stash and giving away some goodies!

I thought of this today because my blogging crafty friend Cass (and quite a few others) are headed to Vegas this month. I used to always have an “on the go” project that I took with me pretty much everywhere in a tote bag. These days my tote bag has just been sitting by desk. I do have a small project tucked away in a pocket in my laptop bag! But, how often do I pick that up and go somewhere with it? Not often enough. The moral of this story is that I need to leave the house more -lol- Do you have a specific travel project that you take with you places or do you focus more on one project no matter where you are?

We are planning a quilt block exchange / RoundRobin / virtual quilting bee thing on the message board. Looking for more participants to get this going in the new year. Figured it was best to wait until after the hectic holidays are all over and behind us and January’s boredom and cold weather has arrived. Don’t worry you don’t have to have perfect sewing skills and there won’t be any extravagant sewing going on. Just some fun and fabric getting tossed around and some interesting quilts being created. Care to join us?

I got tagged fro this meme this weekend and it looked easy enough so here we go. There are four questions each week about foods and you just answer them and visit the other participants. Check out this weeks questions.
1. Do you like hot dogs, if so how do you eat yours? If not, why don’t you eat them?
No I do not. I cannot. I’ll throw up. Seriously. I had a bad hot dog experience when I was younger. It was not pretty at all. I can eat bratwurst and kielbasa, but just looking at hotdogs makes my stomach flip.
2. What’s your favorite type of store bought cookie? (meaning mass produced, like Oreos.)
Chocolate covered graham crackers.
3. Is there a food where you live that is hard to get anywhere else?
I can’t buy chipped ham at the deli here like we could in Pennsylvania. It’s weird. LOL
4. Do you drink milk? Whole, 2%, no fat or other? Or, why don’t you drink milk?
Milk is gross.
What about you?
