Eeyore and Butterflies Baby Blanket

Filed Under (Favorite Chart of the Week, Cross Stitch) by Loretta on 09-08-2008

I’ve had baby on the brain a lot lately. Many of my online friends are pregnant, have had babies recently, and Alice is actually having her baby today! Hubby and I have had the adding to our family discussion more than once recently and it has all sorts of ideas brewing in our household. Don’t get too excited, pregnant is the last thing you’ll see me as any time soon. I don’t think I could go through that part ever again. If we add to our family we would be adopting.

Janlynn Eeyore & Butterflies Baby Quilt Stpd X-Stitch Kit
Anyhow … this cute little baby quilt caught my eye as something I’d like to stitch up for a baby gift. My nephew’s girlfriend is pregnant and I’m sure they’ll be needing all sorts of things for the baby. It’s been awhile since I got to play with anything Winnie the Pooh, my boys outgrew Pooh what feels like forever ago. You can get free shipping on this

by entering promotion code APRFSA625 ;) Of course, I should probably finish up some of these baby bib kits that I have sitting under my desk. I bought a bunch to stitch as gifts and haven’t finished them all yet.

astrology cross stitch kitThis kit from Design Works caught my attention. I love all things astrological and it just sort of popped off the page at me while I was browsing. I love the blues and purples in this design, and the long flowing hair. It just looks fun to stitch. I couldn’t find a direct website for Design Works …. if there is one that you know of do share that with us please. In the meantime here is a listing of Design Works charts at ABC Stitch.

House in the Country ~ The Drawn Thread

Filed Under (Favorite Chart of the Week) by Loretta on 15-11-2007

This week’s pick is House in the Country by The Drawn Thread. I love the little box houses in samplers and such. They remind me of what you think of as your “home” when you’re a little kid. Simple and beautiful on the outside, but ginourmous and full of sweet smelling on the inside. Not the luxury homes one might find in a modern movie or a in some magazine on the shelf. The Drawn Thread captures that perfectly.

Why is the door always red, I wonder? I know there’s a reason behind having a red door, some sort of tradition or mythology or something. I need to go look that up.

Scene Stealer ~ Silver Lining

Appropriately titled, this single gorgeous iris is just one of many beautiful iris cross stitch designs by Marc Saastad of Silver Lining. I love Irises, they are an amazing and beautiful flower. Marc captures them in such perfect elegance his designs jump off the fabric at you. You can’t help but reach out to touch them because they are just so life like in person.

Of course that’s not all you’ll find from Silver Lining. There are plenty of other lifelike flowers, lighthouses, and some other designs as well. Another quick favorite for me is that Paphiopedilum design, a gorgeous orchid. Orchids fascinate me too. I don’t know what it is about them, they must be one of the most oddly shaped flowers yet they are so beautiful.

Angel of Morning ~ L&L

Filed Under (Favorite Chart of the Week) by Loretta on 11-09-2007

Lavender and Lace Angel of Morning L&LAngel of Morning by L&L ~ The designer was 80% finished with this design when the towers fell on 9-11-01 and then rushed to finish her. She is searching into the heavens for an answer. Her face searches the morning light for relief from her darkness. Her golden wings tipped with the white of morning light and her bluest gown trailing into the night. Her hands uplifted, one hand is empty and open and her right is full receiving the light. A tribute to all our fallen heroes.

This design uses a combination of DMC and Needlepaints, plus mill hill beads and treasures. I’m not normally a fan of all the angel designs but this one just sort of speaks for itself with it’s connection to 9/11. So there you have it. Enjoy.

What Happened - Heritage Stitchcraft

Filed Under (Favorite Chart of the Week) by Loretta on 05-09-2007

This adorable cross stitch pattern caught my eye today, and it just totally fits the kind of day I was having today. This cute little guy is from Heritage StitchCraft and he is just summing up a simple little truth. “Inside every older person is a young one wondering what happened.” We all have days where we get that what happened feeling!

So, if you are having one of those days and you want to stitch this pattern I strongly encourage you to visit your LNS (local needlework shop) and ask for What Happened by Heritage StitchCraft … or check your favorite ONS (online needlework shop!) and ask them the same. If they don’t have any Heritage StitchCraft you could suggest or ask if they can order the charts you’d like to have. Remember, both designers and needlework shops need your support to stay in business and bring us these creations.

Happy stitches!

Autumn Harvest ~ Brittercup Designs

Filed Under (Favorite Chart of the Week, Misc Happens) by Loretta on 25-08-2007

autumn harvest brittercup designsI’ve often said that I’d love to live someplace where it was Fall all year. My favorite season, the colors, the temperature, Halloween, the smell of pumpkin pie …. yum!! There are loads of new releases right now that are celebrating fall and Halloween and all the things that go with the season. This is Autumn Harvest by Brittercup Designs, a fast growing favorite designer. I don’t see any of the famed Britty Kitties and Puppies hiding in this design though! Maybe there’s a kitty hiding behind one of those pumpkins.

Hey, summer is almost over let the hubby take his golf balls and go golfing while you sit and stitch for a few hours. Enjoy those quiet afternoons to yourself.

Toil and Trouble ~ Erica Michaeals

Filed Under (Favorite Chart of the Week, Misc Happens) by Loretta on 27-07-2007

toil and trouble erica michaelsI’ve been slacking on this again (this and everything else online!) With the realization that fall is coming ever so quickly I found this new design by Erica Michaels called Toil and Trouble for Halloween. Definitely going onto my list to pick up if I ever get back into the habit of stitching regularly again. I love the little frog jumping around at the bottom there, he’s so cute. Speaking of hop, if you hop over to EricaMichaels.com you’ll find some more information about Erica and her designs, a shop locater to find a shop with her designs near you (if you shop doesn’t have a chart you want it never hurts to request it, they might just order from your favorite designer and have it turn out to be a big hit in the shop), and you’ll even find some freebie charts as well.

Faith Hope Love ~ Stitchin’spiration

Filed Under (Favorite Chart of the Week) by Loretta on 06-06-2007

It’s no secret that Sally’s designs are among my favorites so I might be a bit biased in this weeks pick for chart of the week. Faith Hope Love brings lots of gift ideas to mind every time I see it. I always see this as a beautiful wedding gift, stitched in the bridal party colors and either framed or sewn into a cushion. This is just one of many of the intricate blackwork designs you’ll find from Stitchin’spiration. There are tons to choose from including celtic knotwork designs, bookmarks, garden paths, and if you’re really up for something different the blackwork mazes are awesome. I have so many of these in my to stitch pile, and I’ve stitched a few models for Sally as well and they are all fabulous projects.

Cat Afghan ~ Graphworks

Filed Under (Favorite Chart of the Week) by Loretta on 16-05-2007

cat afghan cross stitch pattern by GraphworksThis weeks pick for Chart of the Week is an afghan for all our cat loving stitchers out there. These curious kitties go from block to block playing between the lines in this design by Graphworks. Stitching an afghan may seem like a difficult and challenging project at first, but they can be a lot of fun to stitch and the end result is always great. Most are actually of pretty simple patterns, and the afghans are generally the equivalent to 14 count aida or 28 count evenweave depending on which you purchase. Just take it one block at a time and think of it as individual mini projects for each square. Maybe even rotate projects, stitching one square on the afghan and the working on something else for awhile.
