If you’re name is Lucas and you’ll be turning 10 in May you would probably think that this is the coolest cake ever made. I came across it searching for something else completely, and upon further investigation it looks like it was made by Mike’s Amazing Cakes.
Now, we’re having a bowling party for Lucas, and last year with Dylan’s big “10″ party we did cupcakes since it was easy and we had a small crowd. So I’ll probably go the cupcake route again this year. Now if only I could figure out how to turn cupcakes into legos and make a wicked cool display for the table ….
Speaking of cupcakes. I am in love with these silicone cupcake cups. They’re fun and colorful, and useful for more than just cupcakes. I use them in the kids lunch boxes and for snack cups and sides. I can fill one up with goldfish crackers for each kid if we’re having soup, or if they want a handful of crackers while they’re doing their homework. Easy to clean, and no fighting over the big bowl in the middle of the table. Anything that reduces fighting is gooooood. Okay … that was a little random, I think I need a nap.

These are awesome! I love Legos. I don’t have a birthday coming up, but what the heck, it’s Legos’ 50th. I’ll get a Lego cake to celebrate!
couldn’t you make cupcakes and put them on a flat sheet cake and somehow make a lego where the cupcakes are the little peg parts? do you know what I mean? Or even skip the sheet cake, but put the cupcakes on a box like they are the pegs?
I have a husband who loves the legoes, so I’m thinking on my behalf here, too!
That is amazing. I wish I could make a cake like that. Ordering a custom cake is a bit out of my budget, but I really appreciate the art. There is a new show on the Food network dedicated to custom cakes and the time and effort they put into the cakes really pays off.
Wow! The perfect cake for my boys, they would love that. I wonder if it would be easy enough to do just one of the Legos.
I love this cake idea. It is soooo cute and bright and colorful. If you come up with a way to make them into cupcakes let me know. lol
Thanks for that brief review of the silicone cupcake cups. I’d seen them and wondered if anyone thought they were a good idea or not. Maybe I’ll give them try myself.
Tricia’s last blog post..Wordless Wednesday
I found a lego shaped silicone cupcake baking sheet at Legoland California. Our new Lego store in the mall also has them. But if you aren’t near either, they sale them online at legostore.com, I believe. I tried making some, today actually. My son’s birthday is in October and I want to have the mini cakes perfect. So far, not good. But it’s only my first try. I’m trying to look online for tips on using silicone sheets and came across this.
Just found this via google, been reading a few articles and really like your blog… The articles are pretty well written =P
Keep up the good work =P, I’ll try to keep checking back…

wow that lego cake is impressive! lucky lucas and happy 10th birthday wherever you are!
I wish I had had the type of birthdays your family seems to enjoy.
I can’t remember any of my birthdays when I was a kid.
Just another day.
Life can be so much more enjoyable when one is surrounded by people who love them.
Congratulations of your having things together.
Maybe as an adult I love Lego so much because I never had any when I was growing up.
That cake rocks!… I loved legos as a kid. Do you know how they make the icing look like that? Is there something special in the indgredients or is it just regular powdered sugar and food coloring.
I visit the link to see more stunning cakes and they were really awesome! It was really incredible. The lego cake is superb; I can’t imagine it was really a cake because it looks like a toy, a literal lego toy.
Cool Lego Cake, I had to make one of these recently, and we used Spray confectioners glaze, to give a shiney finish to the cakes, which make the lego brick look really impressive.
Very nice cake indeed, I love lego too. Give us a bite then!
