Okay, so this isn’t exactly a “craft product.” This is the first book in the Needlework Mystery series by Monica Ferris. I had been hearing about these books for quite some time on message boards and crafty discussion groups. A few months ago I won a $50 Amazon gift certificate and I took the plunge and ordered a few!
I just finished this installment recently and I was really happy with it. I admit the past few years I’ve been caught up in the world of Harry Potter and had a hard time reading anything else. I’m finally getting back into reading again and this was a great place to find my love of reading again.
We first meet Margot, the owner of Crewel World which is the one and only needlework shop in a small town near Minnesota. The kind of small town where everyone knows everyone else and secrets are few and far between and gossip travels faster than rain. I used to live in a small town like that, so it was easy enough to visualize the little shops along the main streets with apartments above them. Sadly we find out that Margot’s beloved husband has passed on and she lives all alone with her fluffy white cat, Sophie. Until her sister Betsy comes to stay with her for awhile.
Things take a turn for the interesting after Betsy arrives. Murder can happen even in a small town, and even in a quiet little needlework shop where people gather to chat and work on their latest projects. Be careful who you trust your life with in this small little town.
