2007Online Craft Club ~ Perler Art!
Filed Under (Online Craft Club) by Loretta on 22-09-2007
I’m a day late, but I blame my bronchitis for that. This week our creative endeavors included Perler Beads. I know you might think of them as a kid’s craft item, but darnit I think they’re fun and I had a good time making my little design. And I got the kids involved too. I had some beads left from before, but I needed more so I grabbed a bucket full when I stopped at Michael’s Crafts to get some cake decorating items for Noah’s birthday cake last weekend.
This is my little creation of Perler beads, pixel art at it’s best. Anybody recognize it? It’s a classic Nintendo red and white mushroom! -lol- I’m such a dork. Next time we get out the Perler beads I want to make Pacman and the Ghosts! I need to get some magnets so that I can stick them on the fridge. I am thinking about making some classic NES characters too and just smother my fridge in total geekery. It seemed like a good idea when I thought of it, but now that I’ve written it down for everyone to read I’m maybe not so sure.
My children were much less dorky than me. Noah made the heart, which he said is for his girlfriend on Valentine’s day… um, but first he said he has to find a girlfriend before that. LOL Little boys are so darn cute sometimes. Dylan made the flower in the middle and said it was for ME and NOT his girlfriend. He stressed this. Lucas made the orange car, like you couldn’t have guessed that Mr.ILoveOrange made the orange car. He did it all by himself with no pattern or anything. Such a creative little mind he has there. It even has a red tail light. Ethan made a star, but it’s not in the picture because he took it to school and stuck it on his desk or something already.
What’s great about Perler bead pixel art is that you don’t need to set up old folding conference tables just to have enough space to craft! Just a handful of beads, a little pegboard, and an iron. You can sit at your desk, at the coffee table, pretty much anywhere and put these little creations together. Unless you’re fuse beading hard core and you get 100 snap together tiles, then you might need a little more space!

The new york flights are often hard to find, specially on the domestic flights in the holiday season. Therefore when you are planning your cruise or your stay at any hotel, make sure that you book your flights well before hand or else you will have to travel by train and eventually stay at a travel lodge.

My daughter loves these things! It is fun when she has a friend over because they can sit and makes quite a few of these little creations and I just have to do the ironing. Very simple.
Oh, I have never seen this before, and now I must have some.
Hi!
Linda
somewhere in my online travels yesterday I saw an older child’s creation free of a square containing a Barbie head. At the time I was on my laptop and couldn’t print. Thought I’d written the address down but cannot find it. Have you seen it or know where to look?
Thanks.
P.S. I especially liked the little tulip and car. Also, if you left the top middle part of the “mushroom” out and did it in black and white, I think you’d have a skull - trendy or nice for Halloween.
Mario Mushroom! Nice touch
