Need your input one more time… free pattern files
September 17th, 2007 by Loretta
Our last poll provided me with such great input about the magazine advertisements. I have a question about free pattern files that I’d love to get your feedback on. Please vote on the poll and leave a comment with your thoughts. I am considering making a change to how the free patterns are stored here on STNA and the feedback will really help with that decision in one direction or another.
What type of freebie file do you prefer?
Thank you for taking the time to vote and let me know your thoughts, this process is to help us improve the site over all ![]()

I picked PDF. I just think it’s easier for more people that way.
I’m not really sure my vote registered, so I wanted to write in and say I prefer PCStitch.
With PCStitch I’m:
* assured of the clarity of the pattern—if someone scans a pattern and then converts it into a PDF, it could be fuzzy or hard to read.
* able change the thread symbols to what suits me: black and white, colored, patterned, etc.
* relatively sure that the file size is smaller in PAT format. Even though gigabytes are pretty cheap these days, when you’re storing patterns, music, pictures, movies, etc. on your computer, it’s still smart to conserve a little.
Just my two cents.
I prefer PDF ,I’m not sure about pcstitch,I don’t have it.
I find that jpg images are the easiest to print out, you can resize, edit them etc. Great idea to get a user vote on the subject. Look forward to seeing the final results.
I like jpgs…. I guess I’m just used to them and feel comfortable downloading and opening the files.
I voted for pdf. I think they’re the most user friendly. That and I don’t understand how to use PCstitch.
yep i prefer pdf, its something im used to and comfortable using,
PDF gets my vote. It’ s a pretty standard program and I’m sure more people will be able to easily use it.
