Hard to believe that it’s been a year and half since my big computer crash when I lost all the patterns I was working on and all the STNA information that I had saved on the computer. I’ve since learned to back up everything, all the time, and not to keep it all on the hard drive. I have a couple little flash drives for my website info, patterns, and general stuff that ends up on the computer. In addition to that I’ve recently discovered online backup as a means to store your up to date back up information. For me this works great, and I can’t believe I didn’t look for it before because all my photos are stored online in various places. Thank goodness for that or I would have lost them all.

Online storage is a great idea because it protects you not only from the computer crashing, but if there were a disaster like a flood, or a tornado and your back up and your computer were both lost you would still be able to access all your files once you were able to get back on line. Or you know, if you’re a total clutz like me and you lose your cd or flash drive that your files were stored on.

Now, if only I oculd get back into designer mode and get all those lost charts re-designed and uploaded we’d be all set.

  1. This does seem like a good idea, but do you have any concerns about the reliability of the backup? I guess the control freak in me would want to have the backup right there at my fingertips as opposed to being in someone else’s hands.

  2. I used a product called Carbonite for a while, but I wasn’t a huge fan.

  3. Sure, now you tell me…my cat knocked my laptop into the sink, and my hard drive died. I know, I know, I shouldn’t be cooking and surfing the internet at the same time. I think it’s an awesome idea to have an automated backup. I’ll set that up today, thanks for posting a cool link.

  4. Thanks for the link. My hard disc recently started clicking and died. Never gave any thought to backing up the data until it was gone. This may be the answer I’m looking for.
