I’m not sure what I expected when I got this book. I might have expected some in depth diy projects, and there are some great diy ideas in here! I was left slightly unimpressed by the book as a whole, and I’m really not sure why. You know, it’s just kind of there, no wow factor in it for me. I was however impressed that cross stitch came first in the book and the very first project you read is called “Dirty Pillow: Cherry Pie”, a very cute pattern with full instructions for cross stitching and finishing off the pillow into a completed masterpiece. There’s also some other fun projects including a tote bag, soap, and a knitted cap. I would have liked the cross stitching section better if the designs shown on the cover of the book were included! The whole front cover shows a cross stitched border and scull with scissors motif, I absolutely love it and would love to see that pattern included or sold separately, or maybe in a future edition of Bazaar Bizarre. I also loved that they say “not your granny’s crafts” ~ because I always say, “this is not your grandmother’s hobby anymore,” just because we are being creative doesn’t mean we’re a bunch of little old ladies sitting around talking about dirty old men! LOL So, enjoy the book, and let me know which project is your favorite.

  1. Does the book talk much about crochet or quilting? If not, are there any books you could recommend? Those are two of my wife’s favorite hobbies and I’d like to get her a book on the topic. Thanks!

  2. It is funny to me how many more “hard core” people out there are moving into crafts like crocheting and knitting. My friends do it and I found it pretty hilarious. Then they made me a beanie and my opinions have changed ever since.

  3. […] It’s been awhile since we gave away a chart here on the blog, so I figured it was time to get back down to business. Only this week instead of a chart, we’re giving away a whole book. Bazaar Bizarre by Greg DerAnanian. You may recall that some time ago I did a review of the very same book here at STNA. (here is that book review if you missed it.) […]

  4. […] Prize: “Bazaar Bizarre” by Greg DerAnanian. (the review of the book is here) […]
