I love how fast these blackwork projects from Dragon Dreams come together. I remember that I stitched Blackwork Dragon in just two days. Of course, that was before this stitching turtle syndrome hit me. Now, I’m the slowest stitcher in the world most days.
So, I just started Blackwork Unicorn after much deliberation over the fabric choice, and then the floss choice, and I’ve already got a about 4 or 5 hours in on it. The progress is coming along quite nicely, I did three separate pictures, one after each stitching session this past week.
Here’s where I left off after watching Castle on ABC last night…

I did not realize how dark this second picture came out until after I uploaded this morning, Sorry!

First session was a little slow moving, takes awhile to get in the blackwork groove…

Fabric: 25 count light blue evenweave that I pulled from way in the bottom of my stash. It’s actually NOT a hand dyed. I decided the pretty blue Belfast that I had pulled wasn’t quite big enough, I needed a little more space.
Threads:
- Horn: DMC 729
- Eye: DMC 500 ~ I improvised that she would have green eyes
- Mane: DMC 3041
- Head/Body: DMC 646

P.S. Did I tell you how geeked I was that Jennifer Aikman Smith commented on my Fairy Tale Sampler happy dance? Totally GEEKED!
